In eastern Cuba, the term began to be used to refer to the music of the highlands towards the late 19th century. Thus, son Cubano, or Cuban son, is a genre of music and dance that originated in eastern Cuba in the late 19th century .   I   Unit: Popular Dance Theme: Chachacha Introduction   The chachacha , is a dance of Cuban origin. It is danced to chachacha music introduced by the Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrin in the early 1950s.(1&2) This rhythm was developed from the danzón-mambo .
